Greg Hughes spent his years in the legislature prioritizing legislation to reflect the gratitude and respect that we, as citizens, feel for our military men and women. They give so much to protect our freedoms and we should do all that we can to provide opportunity for them and their families when they return home, as well as take care of them when they are in need of assistance.
+ Created the Department of Veterans’ & Military Affairs.
+ Passed the Utah Purple Heart Recipients’ Act
+ Passed the Scott B. Lundell Tuition Waiver
+ Passed a property tax exemption for disabled veterans, or the dependents of military members killed while serving our country.
+ Passed the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children
+ Passed a bill that requires the Utah National Guard salaries to be on par with their federal counterparts
+ Passed a resolution supporting a veterans’ freedom memorial in Utah.
+ Funded three new veterans nursing homes getting them built far ahead of when they were scheduled to be.
